        Tree Planting Ceremony: Sunday, April 18 at 12 noon
        The Town of Woodbury and the local Interfaith Communities will present a tree planting ceremony on Sunday, April 18th at noon on the North Green near the Gazebo - A perfect place to walk to from the churches along main steeet! The program will include prayers and song. 
        The event is open and all are invited to attend.

        Nature Center: Sunday, April 18 at 1:30
        On Sunday, April 18, the Audubon Center at Bent of the River, Southbury Land Trust, Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition and Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust – known collectively as the Conservation Partners - will share knowledge, expertise, science and history on the beautiful Tappe Pasture.  This special hike, which
        kicks off Earthweek Connecticut, is an opportunity to environmentally multi-task!   Do a stream walk along the Transylvania Brook, meet the resident flock of Katahdin sheep, search for hidden treasures and nature art, & uncover the earliest of spring flowers. Join the Conservation Partners at 1:30 at the Bent of the River parking lot at 185 East Flat Hill Road. Bad weather will cancel this hike. Please call: 203.264.5098 for a cancellation message.


        Spring Break Vacation Workshops: Flanders Nature Center, April 19th- 23rd, 2010, 1-4pm
        Age: Pre-K - Grade 5

The Audubon Center at Bent of the River is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day with special explorations all week.  Join us for a fun morning of nature lessons, games, and hikes around the Center. Children are invited to attend one, two or all three days. Space is limited and filled on a first come, first served basis. Please call Ken at 203-264-5098 x308 to register your child(ren).         The Woodbury Open Space Strategy and Implementation Committee is sponsoring a guided river walk in downtown Woodbury
        Saturday, April 24th at 10:00 am.

        Dick Leavenworth will share with us the history of the rivers and adjoining lands. Walkers should park at the entrance to Three Rivers Park on Jack’s Bridge Road. The walk will be a 1 hour stroll along mostly flat terrain. The Weekeepeemee, Nonnewaug and Pomperaug rivers have played an important part in the history of Woodbury. They remain some of the town’s most distinguishing features. Dick will review the official history of the rivers as well as some interesting anecdotes from their long past. Come learn about this beautiful town owned open space in the center of Woodbury, meet the members of the Open Space Committee, and discover their goals and concerns. All interested individuals are welcome, children included. We do ask that you please leave your dogs at home. Dress appropriately, as the walk will take place rain or shine!


        Good News Earth Day Charity Ball Mudpie Contest: Saturday, April 24th,
        7:00 pm until midnight
        At the Barn, 641 S. Main St, Woodbury.
        Hosted by Carole Peck and Bernard Jarrier this event will support Woodbury Community Services and Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition.  Festivities will include a sumptuous dinner and dessert buffet with beer, wines and pure water.  Local entertainment will also be provided.  Tickets are $90 per guest and can be purchased by calling 203-266-4663.
